Kenneth J. Gould, NYFAA President
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE - New York Fire Alarm Association,
Inc. - AUGUST 2008
Kenneth J. Gould
Arora Engineers, Inc. - Director of NY Development
So far 2008 has been an exciting, challenging and
prosperous year!
Starting 2008 I have asked the Board of Directors to meet with me each month to
address the issues and challenges at hand. Unselfishly, and out of their
personal and business time, members of the board have labored through meetings
as long as four hours. When board meetings were not enough, I was able to
personally meet with many of the board members at their offices to continue with
discussions and ideas to benefit the NYFAA. Our board is made up of some of the
industry's most knowledgeable and talented people. Today's board members are the
NYFAA officers of tomorrow!
I would like to thank Vice President, Tom Papa, for his many hours working with
the committees. His time and effort have paid off. He has put us in a very
positive direction with new projects.
Our second NYFAA Annual Fire and Life Safety Technical Symposium and Vender Expo
is planned for Wednesday, September 17, 2008. Chaired by Steve Wassermann of
American Security Systems Inc., and assisted by numerous other members, the
Symposium and Vender Expo will feature programs such as: Smoke Control/Removal
Basic Principles & Systems; Networking/Fiber Optics & Distributed Audio;
Advanced Smoke Detection Technologies. We have approximately 15 exhibitors. So
come learn, earn (CEUs), and dine on September 17th.
Our first Charity Golf Outing
(donations to three local area burn centers) is off the tee and rolling along.
Scheduled for Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at the South Shore Country Club on
Staten Island, and Chaired by John Lasek of Cross Fire & Security, this event is
a sure winner for everyone. If you play golf or not, be there for the fun and
games and enjoy a great dinner with all of your friends.
Our Code Committee, chaired by Sid Aconsky of Acotech Services and Steve
Wasserman of American Security Systems, Inc., is hard at work interpreting the
new IBC and IFC implemented by NYC in July of 2008. They are looking for
additional committee members for this difficult but interesting project.
I would like to close by saying I am proud of the NYFAA team. We have a lot of
talent! Each one of us is from a different part of the industry but each member
of the team has everyone else's best interest in mind.
Please join us as an association member and as a committee member to help the
NYFAA on our mission to make this industry better for all.
"Individual commitment to a group effort - that is what makes a team work, a
company work, a society work, a civilization work." Vince Lombardi
Sincerely,
Ken
